CHICAGO, IL -- One person was hospitalized Saturday morning after a fiery wreck on Interstate 294 near O'Hare International Airport, according to HardKnoxWire.com.

Illinois State Police said the accident occurred on the southbound side of I-294 at South River Road, in the southwest corner of the city. It was first reported at around 11:15 a.m. 

While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, a vehicle traveled across the left lane and collided with the center median wall. Authorities said the vehicle caught fire after the impact of the crash and became engulfed in flames. 

First responders rushed the driver and sole occupant to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. No updates on the patient's condition have been disclosed. 

A section of I-294 was temporarily shut down as crews worked to clear the scene. 

The ISP continues to investigate the cause of the incident.
