COOK COUNTY, IL -- A 64-year-old man has died following a crash involving a bicycle and a van last Wednesday in the northern suburb of Glencoe, according to WGN-TV

The Glencoe Department of Public Safety said the incident occurred in the area of Sheridan Road and South Avenue on August 23, at about 4:00 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates John Kezdy, a Highland Park resident, was riding a bicycle northbound on Sheridan Road, north of South Avenue, when he crashed into a Dodge Ram ProMaster that was stopped.

First responders were on the scene by around 4:15 p.m. and initiated life-saving measures on the cyclist. He was then rushed by ambulance to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

On Saturday, August 26, Kezdy succumbed to injuries suffered as a result of the crash, confirmed officials.

Authorities said the driver of the Dodge Ram ProMaster stayed at the scene and cooperated with an investigation, which remains underway with the North Regional Major Crash Assistance Team. No charges have been reported as of this writing.
