CHICAGO, IL -- A 36-year-old man died Sunday night after colliding with a SUV while operating a motorcycle near Chicago Midway International Airport, reports WGN-TV.

The fatal crash happened in the 5300 block of West 55th Street, a couple of blocks west of the Hertz Car Rental office. Chicago Police and first responders were called to the scene just before 10:00 p.m.

While officials have not said what caused the wreck, the man was driving a motorcycle when it struck a black SUV at the intersection with South Lockwood Avenue. 

The rider was rushed to Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. 

Authorities said the driver of the SUV, 39. was not reported hurt. 

No pending charges have been reported, and no other details have been made available.
