LAKE COUNTY, IL -- A 49-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle on State Route 21 in unincorporated Libertyville, reports FOX 32 Chicago

The fatal accident occurred on the southbound side of IL-21 near Independence Grove Dog Park.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, the man was operating a motorcycle southbound at a high rate of speed and was observed cutting in and out of traffic. At one point, the motorcyclist collided with a 68-year-old woman in a Hyundai SUV that was turning left from the park and onto IL-21. The bike then hit a curb, causing the rider to eject into a guardrail.

First responders rushed the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries, confirmed officials. An autopsy by the Lake County Coroner's Office is pending.

No injuries to the other driver or anyone else were reported.

An investigation by the LCSO's Technical Crash Investigations Unit remains ongoing.
