CHICAGO, IL -- One person was hospitalized Friday night, August 4, after a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Chicago's Northwest Side, according to ABC7 Chicago

The incident took place at the intersection of West Division Street and Ashland Avenue, in the Wicker Park neighborhood. It was first reported shortly before 10:30 p.m.

Preliminary details show the victim was crossing the road on foot when they were struck by a red Mercedes-Benz whose driver continued away from the scene without stopping. 

The victim, who suffered serious injuries, was transported to a local hospital. No updates on their condition have been disclosed. 

Authorities said the striking Mercedes-Benz was last seen with Illinois license plate DC60012. The vehicle's grille portion is believed to have sustained damage.
